The Tufty-Time sofa series, designed by Patricia Urquiola for B&B Italia, is a modern take on traditional Chesterfield sofas.
The modular system starts with an ottoman, which is then accompanied by central, corner and terminal elements with a low or high armrest that provide a 360° seating solution. With its modular shape and removable covers, the Tufty-Time was created for a freer and more informal lifestyle.

Designed by Vico Magistretti and produced by Cassina in 1984, the Veranda 3 sofa comprises three connected lounge chairs. The two at the end swivel on their fixed base to form a more intimate configuration. Each seat has an adjustable fold-over headrest upholstered in a dove grey leather and the base table is white.

Terje Ekstrøm,  Ekstrem Chair (1984) is an icon of modern design due to its unique form and the fact that it’s surprisingly comfortable.

This particular piece is an early example from the late 1980’s with original upholstery that has been distressed from years of use.

Rare 1st edition “Jumbo” coffee table by Gae Aulenti for Knoll, 1970.

This table has an identical fingerprint marble pattern,  matching the table photographed on for Knolls initial press release in 1970. The photos of the first press release can be seen today in the Knoll Archive. 

This early example includes the original slats, which were Aulenti’s intended design. However, shortly after the table was announced, Knoll deemed the slats a design flaw, as the slats made the table susceptible to cracks and chipping when the piece was assembled. 

To this day there is no record of any of these tables with the original slats selling at auction, or anywhere else online.

The Lumbarest chair was the first design by Greg Fleishman, and the process spanned from 1975 to 1979 and included more than 30 prototypes. This is one of those 30+ prototypes before the design was mass manufactured. There are some areas of light wear throughout but overall in excellent vintage condition.

A puzzle to assemble, the seat rear outer tabs need to be positioned correctly between the integral front and back legs before rotating into place. Then lift the front of the seat slightly as you insert the brace arms.

Brutalist Metal Pedestals

The Maralunga was designed by Vico Magistretti in 1973 and has had its fans ever since. It is characterized by the flexibility of the backrest, which allows it to be changed from a stylish lounge chair to a high-backed armchair in seconds. In 1964, Cassina signed the exclusive license agreement to edit furniture designed by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand.

The "Vicario" chair was designed by Vico Magistretti for Artemide in 1972. These chairs were part of MoMa's iconic "Italy: The New Domestic Landscape" exhibition and represented the future of design and furniture.

They are one piece made of compression molded plastic with a unique S-shape on the legs that give the plastic strength and signed on the underside.

"Vicario" Chair

Massimo and Lella Vignelli for Poltronova, 'Saratoga' three-seat sofas, polyester lacquer, black leather, Italy, 1964.
This three-seat sofas named 'Saratoga' is designed by Italian designer couple Lella and Massimo Vignelli. The Vignelli's were known for their clear designs, this piece is therefore also completely free of decorative details. All attention goes to the essential form and material in this design by Vignelli. The 'Saratoga' is one of the first examples of modular and modern living in twentieth century. In the designers words: “We have designed this sofa because we really needed a sofa. And the sofa wanted was one with an architectural character rather that a soft, smooth object. A sofa that could be set out in the middle of the room. We didn’t want it to be pushed up against the walls; we wanted it to move around as needed.”
