The Malitte System, designed by Roberto Sebastian Matta for Gavina, is an icon of Italian design, proven by it's inclusion in the permanent collection of MoMA. The Malitte is a seating system, an ever-changing composition of five polyurethane blocks covered in fabric. A playful collection of colored interlocking organic shapes that can be assembled into a single sculpture, a “wall” dividing the environment with its formal and conceptual being, which, when necessary, can instantly become a complete living room: a two-seat sofa, three seats and a pouf. Original foam from 1966 has been restored and reshaped to ensure another lifetime of use.
